HUMAN RESEARCH PROTECTION PROGRAM Review Recharge Rates to Increase in October The CHR has not raised its recharge rates since 2001. However, in order to reflect the current actual costs as well as to keep up with industry standards, the rates for reviewing industry-sponsored studies will increase beginning in October. The details of these new rates will be posted on the HRPP website UCSF Recharge for CHR Review and be sent out in targeted mailings at the end of the first week in September.
Make sure that no lapses occur in CHR approval periods. To assist PIs, beginning in September the CHR will send out renewal notices 12 weeks before study expiration in addition to the current 8-week renewal notices, an expiration notice and a study closure notice. A high rate of approval lapses at an institution is a serious cause of concern to both federal and private funding agencies and may jeopardize individual as well as UCSF funding. Secure Research Data on Mobile Devices An unusually large number of investigators report their laptops are stolen.
To prevent loss of data and to protect personal information, make sure, at
minimum, that passwords are required to open the laptop or any files that
contain confidential information. Please refer to the UCSF IT Security website
which has very useful and specific
Recommendations for Securing Mobile Devices
