4. REGULATED MATERIALS: HAZARDOUS AGENTS
AND HUMAN TISSUE
For information and application processes for
the Radiation Safety Committee, Biosafety Committee, Chemical
Safety Committee or the Committee on Human Research, please see
below. Note: Other than the Chemical Safety Committee,
approval must be granted before IACUC approval will be given
to
order or start working with animals.
Radioactive Materials include radioactive
chemicals and drugs administered to animals (not imaging). Contact
the Radiation
Safety Committee or call 476-2198.
Biological Materials include infectious
agents (e.g., adenovirus vectors) and production of transgenic
animals (not breeding). Note: Biosafety approval
is required for the use of all sheep or Old World primates. Contact
the Biosafety
Committee or call 476-2198.
Controlled Substances include regulated
medications and anesthetics, toxic chemicals and carcinogens.

Safety Committee or call 476-2198.
Human Tissue includes tissue or cells
collected from humans if the cell lines are not commercially or
publicly available. If tissue cannot be directly or indirectly
linked to individual personal information, the study may qualify
for an Exempt Certification. For more information see the
