CONTRACTS AND GRANTS

SISS CHARGES ON CONTRACTS AND GRANTS
NON-STUDENT FEE SERVICES

DT: October 3, 2003
TO: Contracts & Grants Representatives
RE: SISS Charges on contracts and grants

Recently a memo was issued from the UCSF Services to International Students and Scholars (SISS) office concerning fee schedule charges for all non-student fee services provided by SISS (see attachment below). These fee services are allowable charges to grant and contract awards effective as of July 1, 2003.

Non-student fee service charges should be applied proportionate to the level of effort an individual is spending on an award. For example, if an individual is working 50% effort on a federal award, 50% of the applicable fee may be budgeted and charged to that award. Please note that any given fund source should not be charged greater than the % effort applied to that source. This means that if an employee is paid 80% from extramural funds, that 80% of the fees may be charged to extramural funds while the remaining 20% should be charged to other appropriate departmental funds. Future grant and contract proposals should be prepared with SISS fees included as appropriate. These fees are determined on an annual basis based upon University recharges, therefore rates may change annually as announced by the SISS office.
