THE QUALITY IMPROVEMENT UNIT (QIU)
Clinical Research
Coordinator Group (CRCG)
The Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) and the
Quality Improvement Unit (QIU) are forming a Clinical Research
Coordinator Group (CRCG) to establish a method for regular
feedback and dialogue between the QIU and key research coordinators
involved in the
day-to-day implementation and operational functions of human research
projects. Some of ways in which the CRCG may work with the QIU
are to help:
| • |
Develop education and
training materials and programs related to clinical research |
| • |
Develop guidelines
and procedures for the proper conduct and management of clinical research
and the protection of human research participants |
| • |
Identify areas of potential
risk to study participants, investigators and/or the University |
| • |
Identify methods to
correct problems and concerns discovered during routine monitoring
of research trials at UCSF and its affiliated research sites. |
The CRCG may also serve as an ongoing forum for
networking and resource sharing within the clinical research community here at UCSF.
The work of
the group will initially be facilitated by the staff of the QIU and
will likely include periodic needs assessments and review of newly drafted
documents
by email exchange. Eventually, interested individuals from the larger
group may to want to gather for face-to-face meetings (perhaps quarterly).
If you already receive the HRPP Bulletin, we will contact you
later with more information about this group. If you know of a
colleague who might be interested in joining the Clinical Research
Coordinator Group, please invite them to send their email address
to Joseph McGuire at: joseph.mcguire@ucsf.edu.

the QIU or the HRPP, please call Carroll Child at 514-3824 or visit
