UCSF COMPLIANCE PROGRAM
WHERE TO GO FOR HELP

Compliance can be thought of simply as doing the right thing, as well as multifaceted regulatory adherence.

In today's large and complex organizations, it is important that each of us reaffirms a personal commitment to excellence and integrity. It is also important that the institutions provide you with appropriate opportunities for bringing to our attention concerns you may have about issues of integrity.

We hope you will never have a reason to question the integrity of any person or practice you encounter at UCSF. However, should that reason arise, we assure you that your concerns will be taken seriously and treated in a discreet manner

Reporting Concerns

These resources are available to you for compliance related issues:

Compliance Coordinator
Eugene Lau eugene.lau@ucsf.edu

Whistleblower Hotline
Members of the campus community are encouraged to report any concerns or allegations regarding improper or illegal activities. These reports are commonly known as "whistleblower complaints". California law and University policy support the effort to bring these matters forward anonymously. You can review the Whistleblower Policy online.

Questions or concerns may be addressed to:
UCSF Whistleblower Coordinator
Randy Lopez, Associate Vice Chancellor
- phone 415-502-2810
- e-mail rlopez@avcadmin.ucsf.edu
- PO Box 0832

Environmental Health and Safety
The Office of Environmental Health & Safety has initiated a Health and Safety Advisor Program to assist departments in finding solutions to safety related problems. An OEH&S Specialist has been assigned to work with each department. The Specialist will work cooperatively to provide information, training, technical expertise, and interpretation of regulatory requirements.

Institutional Animal Care and Use
The UCSF Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) has procedures for reporting and following up on all animal care and use concerns.

Human Research Protection Program
The Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) is concerned about the safety, rights and welfare of all individuals participating in research projects at UCSF and its affiliated sites. All research concerns or complaints reported to the HRPP are taken seriously.
