INDUSTRY CONTRACTS DIVISION

INFORMATION FOR FACULTY AND ADMINISTRATORS

Submittal Process for UCSF Faculty

After a research project is developed with a sponsor or after a PI agrees to participate in a clinical trial, the researcher's department should contact the Industry Contracts Division (ICD) to begin the contract negotiating process.

Each department is assigned its own Industry Contracts Officer who processes all industry research agreements for that department (see “Departmental Assignments” on the ICD home page).

The following documents must be submitted to the Industry Contracts Division before a contract can be signed:

OSR Approval Form

Form 700U Form – PI's Statement of Economic Interest (completed and signed original)

Budget (including direct and indirect costs; PI's time and effort, including salary)

Scope of Work (a clear description of the research program) or Protocol and Informed Consent (if a clinical trial)

Applicable Committee Approval:

• Committee on Human Research (CHR)
• Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)
• Technical Committees

The Conflict of Interest Advisory Committee (COIAC) meets once a month to review any positive disclosures on the Form 700U so it is important to send this form to the Industry Contracts Division as soon as possible. If there is a positive disclosure on the Form 700U, the contract cannot be signed until the COIAC reviews the conflict and approves it.
